FAQ #6: What Happens if You Get a DUI Under 21?

If you're under 21 and you're convicted of a DUI, the penalties are going to be greater than if you are over 21. You're going to lose your license automatically for a year with no chance of getting a restricted license. And you may have to note the conviction on college applications. If you're under 21, you're already in the high-risk insurance. Your rates are already going to be high, but add a DUI to that, and they're going to go through the roof.
